Seems the sadness never ends at times...

It has been over three long weeks since my favorite old garbage hound Lucy left me for that garbage pile in the sky. The old girl was about seventy in dog years and an outright codger at that, but very loving and lovable! She lived among us for nearly eight years and was more family than most my aunts and uncles are at this point. It tore my heart out to carry her off to the vet for her final journey, but she always did love a good car ride no matter how short it might have been!

Dateline 17 April 2008, I turned 44 and I learned that my Brother Ron Heinle died in his home sometime between 3/11/08 and 3/14/08. It has been a somber and empty 5 days since. I don't know what to do with myself. He was my paternal half-brother and I've only known him since the summer of '89 but some people only have a couple of decades here on earth...We lived together for a time and we mourned our father's death together...I don't think you can get any closer to another human being other than marriage and child rearing...I guess what I'm saying is I will miss him and it feels like another connection to my father as been torn away...Signed Sad In NE OK (Ron is on your far left)

And You think you had a bad day!
Snake Invasion, St. Pierre, Martinique, 1902: A combination of geologic and natural phenomena led to this strange event in 1902. Volcanic activity in the “Bald Mountain” of Martinique wasn’t unusual, so few people noticed when tremors and ventholes began occurring in April. By May, however, ash was raining down and the awful smell of sulfur permeated the air, forcing thousands of fer-de lance snakes from their mountainside homes. The poisonous snakes took up residence in human quarters, killing over 50 people and countless animals before being largely destroyed by feral cats and soldiers. The Guerin Sugar Works, two miles northwest of St. Pierre, was also affected when invaded by swarms of speckled ants and foot-long centipedes, which bit unfortunate horses and workers who tried to subdue them. Unfortunately, the calming of animal and insect populations wouldn’t make much difference, as a few weeks later the volcano sent a wave of boiling mud down the mountainside setting off the chain of events resulting in the cataclysmic eruption of Mt. PelĂ©e killing all but two of the 30,000 residents of St. Pierre.

Thank you!

Thanksgiving has gone...another turkey bites the dust!

We are very thankful for all of our military, past and present, for giving us a chance at freedom and for friends and family for loving us even though they know us completely! Most of all we are thankful for a God in heaven that loves and cares for us mind, body, and soul! Curtis
